Glamorous Mommyhood

So here I am the mom of a newborn again. Wow, who knew that you could forget the details of caring for a newborn so quickly. I mean, come on, Max is only a little over 2!
After I found out I was pregnant with Will, I had some pretty big decisions to make about the direction of my focus. It just so happened that I was reading The Mission Of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson around that time, and I became passionate about being a mommy. I dreamt about raising my kids and pouring my life into them. I had a very glamorous view of motherhood. In some ways that has not changed, because I am still passionate about being a mom. But now that I have a 2nd baby to care for, motherhood takes on the form of nursing, an aching back, exhaustion, diaper rashes and getting pooped on all while I am still trying to meet the needs of the other special people in my home. Does motherhood feel glamorous right now? Heck no! But I am thankful for the strength God gives and for the blessing of my family.

Snow Day in Columbia

This was such a fun day for Max (and us, too). Columbia hardly ever gets snow like this, so today was a first for Max. He loved every bit of his experience. He loved making snowballs and throwing them at Mom and Dash. He also thought it was hilarious to see his dad slide on his belly across the snow. He was very excited to put a carrot nose on the snowman. The only downside to today is trying to explain why the snowman is gone. Yes, it warmed up enough during the afternoon that his friend melted away.
